Warriorz UP-set again to continue WIPL ladder climb

THE UP Warriorz have won their second match on the trot after a four-run Super Over win against the Royal Challengers Bengalaru overnight.

After both sides made 180 in their regular innings, they headed to a Super Over, which the Warriorz ultimately won after scoring double the number of runs their more fancied opponents did.

It was an even contribution with the bat from the Warriorz’s batters, with several batters making scores in the 20s and 30s, and Chinelle Henry top scoring with 33.

This was in stark contrast to the Royal Challengers’, with their runs largely concentrated in the innings of two batters – Ellyse Perry (90 not out) and Danni Wyatt-Hodge (57).

On the bowling front, player of the match Sophie Ecclestone was clutch for the Warriorz in the super over, bowling very economically and keeping the scoring low. Earlier for the Royal Challengers Sneh Rana starred with a trio of wickets.

After being the last side to pick up their first win of the year this season, the Warriorz are now up to third on the table, mere run rate behind the sides ahead of them.

They will be looking to continue that climb in a couple of days time when they meet the currently second placed Mumbai Indians. The Royal Challengers meanwhile get an extra day to regroup before they face the Gujarat Giants.
