Australia names squad for Trans-Tasman T20s

THE LAST Australian squad of the summer has been announced, with the women’s squad to tour New Zealand in next month’s T20 series being announced earlier today.
Like most Australian women’s squads these days, there are not too many surprises, but at least one fresh face is set to enter the fold in Victorian captain Nicole Faltum.
With Alyssa Healy not set to feature in this series as she continues to recover from a foot injury sustained during the Ashes, it will be interesting to see whether Faltum or Beth Mooney ends up taking the keeping gloves in the three-match series. With the tight turnaround for Mooney between the end of the Women’s Indian Premier League and the start of this series, Faltum is a solid chance to reprise the role.
With Healy not being present for this series, Tahlia McGrath will serve as captain, while Ash Gardner has been named as her vice captain.
Another member of the squad to watch is Grace Harris, who has the potential to be a really important player for the Australian team, but can only seem to get herself selected for T20 series.
The Trans-Tasman rivalry resumes on March 21, bookending a summer that began with a three-match T20 series on home soil against the New Zealanders.
