Dees raise hell at the expense of the Mustangs
ROUND 3 of the Victorian Women’s Premier 1sts competition saw some teams finally get on the board, others remained winless and others sent an ominous warning to the rest of the competition.
Plenty Valley v Ringwood
Ringwood finally got on the board this season, easily accounting for Plenty Valley.
Batting first, Plenty Valley were bowled out for only 136 in the 40 over, with Jasmine Nevins top scoring for the Bats with 45.
Captain Bhavisha Devchand was once again the star with the ball for the Rams, taking 4/31 off her 10 overs. This included one maiden.
Erin Carroll also took 3/19 off her six overs.
In reply, Ringwood easily reached the target in the 26th over after only losing two wickets. Opener Olivia Henry top scored with 71 not out.
Melbourne vs Box Hill
After their great stat to the season Box Hill came crashing back down to earth this weekend, losing to Melbourne.
Batting first, centuries from Amy Vine and Stephanie Townsend saw the Dees make 4/260 off their 50 overs.
In response the Mustangs were absolutely no match for the Dees, bowled out for only 80 in the 28th over.
Hasrat Gill was the pick of the Dees bowlers, picking up 3/15 off 2.1 overs.
Zoe Samuel and Hayleigh Brennan each picked up two wickets.
Essendon Maribyrnong Park vs Dandenong
Essendon Maribyrnong Park (EMP) got their first win on the board, defeating Dandenong.
Dandenong batted first, and was bowled out for 214 with two balls left in its innings.
After making a century last week, Tiana Atkinson was out for a duck, but Sophie Strickland top scored for the Panthers with 49.
Chloe Rafferty took three wickets for the Bombers, while Katia Jomini and Hannah Rooke each took two.
In reply, EMP reached the target with four wickets to spare and in the 44th over. Alyssa Humphries top scored with 48 for the Bombers, while Emma Gallagher nabbed two wickets for the Panthers.
Carlton vs Prahran
Carlton continued their undefeated start to the season while keeping Prahran’s winless start to the season intact.
Batting first Carlton made 5/294 off their 50 overs.
Sophie Reid made 110, while Cailin Green and Nipuni Hansika each made half centuries.
On the other side of the equation, Merinda Hale took two wickets for Prahran.
In response, a 72 Jennifer Taffs from wasn’t enough as Prahran were only able to make 6/211 off their 50 overs.
Madison Albers was the pick of the bowlers for the Blues, taking two wickets.
