DAY 2 at the 2023 Under 19 Cricket World Cup saw some of the real contenders of the tournament make a big statement in their opening games.

New Zealand flexes its muscles

As expected, New Zealand made light work of Indonesia in its opening clash. Set a mere 75 for victory, New Zealand did not even need 10 overs to reach the tally. Natasha Wakelin took three wickets for the Kiwis while Anna Browning picked up two wickets and topped the run tally too.

West Indies pick up handy win

In Group B’s other game, it was the West Indies who picked up a handy first up win over Ireland. The West Indies batted first and set the Irish 126 for victory, but the Irish ultimately kept losing too many wickets, falling seven runs short.

Group C

Pakistan win comfortably

As expected, Pakistan produced a comfortable eight-wicket win over Rwanda. Set 107 for victory, the Pakistanis did need almost 18 overs to get the job done but still had plenty of wickets in the shed.
