History repeats as Delhi downs Bangalore

MUCH like the first time around these two sides met, Delhi defeated the Royal Challengers Bangalore overnight to keep the Royal Challengers winless in season 2023.

After the Royal Challengers made 4/150 from their 20 overs, the Capitals certainly took their time but reached the target with two balls to spare and six wickets in hand.

This result sees Delhi take one step closer to locking in a top two spot, while the Royal Challengers’ tough season continues.

The Royal Challengers had a few relatively small partnerships to start their innings, but a 74 run fourth wicket partnership between Ellyse Perry and Richa Ghosh bumped up the Royal Challengers’ total and made it somewhat competitive.

Perry was the star of the innings with 67 not out, while Ghosh was second top scorer with 37.

Meanwhile for the Capitals, it was Shikha Pandey who was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets, while Tara Norris picked up one dismissal.

The Capitals’ chase did not get off to a good start, losing the first wicket for one run on only the second ball, but things improved from there.

Although they were running out of time to make the tally, a composed innings from Jess Jonassen (29 from 15 balls) who teamed up Marizanne Kapp to help guide the Capitals home.

Earlier in the innings Alice Capsey top scored with 38, while Kapp and Jemimah Rodrigues both made 32.

Meanwhile for the Royal Challengers Sobhana Asha took two wickets, while Preeti Bose and Megan Schutt both picked up one wicket.

The Royal Challengers’ next chance to finally pick up a win is in 48 hours time when they have to face the UP Warriorz.

Meanwhile for Delhi they get an extra day’s rest before their next match. They are up against the Gujarat Giants on Friday morning Australian time.
