2021 SSN signing update: 4/10

JUST one club remains without its full 10-player 2022 roster heading into the final week of the Suncorp Super Netball free agency period, after West Coast Fever announced its ninth and tenth players over the weekend.

It was a big weekend for the Fever, finalising its 2022 back-end and finishing off a huge list of players. Just as suggested by new head coach Dan Ryan when he took over the head coaching role, there was only one change made across the 10 contracted players, proving firstly how loyal the players are to the club, and more notably, how much the team in green wants to win the trophy next season.

Stacey Francis-Bayman‘s return was confirmed on Saturday, with the England defender a handy and experienced figure amongst the Fever  group. Able to rotate between goal defence and wing defence seamlessly, Francis-Bayman is looking forward to shaping up in Fever green for a sixth season.

“Perth is my home away from home and I have felt so much love and support from the green army from day one,” Francis-Bayman said. “I have been on a huge journey with the Club as both a person and a player and I still feel like we have unfinished business.

“I’m looking forward to another challenging year and pushing us forward towards our first premiership.”

Young talent Sunday Aryang locked up the final spot on the Fever list, joining Francis-Bayman, captain Courtney Bruce and newcomer Rudi Ellis in the defensive end for 2021. The developing defender has signed for two more years with the club after first exploding onto the scene in 2020, adding more court time to her belt in 2021 and says she is excited to build on her form and connections in the coming seasons.

“I’m super excited and grateful for the opportunity to be with the club for another two years,” she said. “I’m looking forward to playing in front of the Green Army again, being back with the girls and starting our new journey with Dan Ryan.”

Just the Queensland Firebirds remain on the waiting list, with two squad positions available, and five days left of the signing period.
