2022 Cadbury Round Robin Series Catch Up – Day 4

THE final day of the 2022 Cadbury Round Robin Series was finals day, with the New Zealand A side getting their first win of the series on the board, while the New Zealand Men’s side defeated the Silver Ferns to win the Cadbury Series.

New Zealand A finally get on the board

They left their run late, but finally the New Zealand A side got a win this Cadbury Series, with a 48 to 36 goal win over the Mixed Invitational side.

Things were dead even at quarter time, but unfortunately for the Mixed Invitational side their scoring got worse and worse as the game progressed, ultimately resulting in the 12 goal loss.

For the New Zealand A side, Elisapeta Toeava (32 feeds, 15 goal assists) and Mila Reuelu-Buchanan (24 feeds, 10 assists) were workhorses through the midcourt, feeding it through to the likes of Filda Vui (26 goals from 29 attempts) and Ameliaranne Ekenasio (16 goals from 20 attempts).

Meanwhile for the Mixed Invitational side, it was Georgia Heffernan who lead her side in both feeds and goal assists, which is even more impressive when it is noted that she did not play the whole game and while she was out on court she was in goal attack.

Meanwhile from a shooting perspective the load was fairly evenly spread, but the bulk of the goals came via Heffernan and Amosa Faitaua-Nanai.

NZ Men defeat Silver Ferns to win Cadbury Series

The New Zealand Men have capped off a stellar Cadbury Series with a 67 to 48 win over the Silver Ferns. A 40 to 22 first half really set up the win for the men, and although the Silver Ferns won the final quarter, it was a case of too little too late.

Shooting percentages were down across both sides, with Jay Geldard the only shooter to shoot above 90 per cent. urnament like the Commonwealth Games, whose most accurate shooter in the game was Grace Nweke at 80 per cent.

Someone who did have a good game for the Silver Ferns was midcourt duo Whitney Souness (26 feeds and 13 assists) and Shannon Saunders (24 feeds and 13 assists), while Eriata Vercoe (34 feeds and 20 assists) was a workhorse through midcourt for the New Zealand Men.
