2023 ANZ Premiership | Round 7 preview: Big weekend of big connotations

ANOTHER weekend means another round of netball to enjoy in the ANZ Premiership.

This weekend also sees the start of the second half of the season, so expect the ladder to tighten and the on court action to get even more fierce in the race to the finals.

This weekend, it is the turn of both the Pulse and Steel to back up and do the two matches in the one weekend.

It is a particularly big weekend for the Steel, who not only have two games this weekend, but have to travel to both.

They have one of the longest trips in New Zealand netball ahead of them, first travelling almost the length of the country to take on the Stars in Auckland before travelling back down to the capital to take on the Pulse.

The Steel need a win arguably more than any other team and quick smart, but will the travel play a factor in whether that first win of the season comes this weekend or not?

The double weekend is slightly easier for the Pulse because both their games are on the North Island and one is at home, but their first game is still against the red hot Mystics, so that is still going to be quite the challenge though.

The game of the round though is arguably Sunday’s clash in Tauranga, where the second placed Tactix are off to battle the third placed Magic. Bailey Mes and Ameliaranne Ekenasio up about Phoenix Karaka and maybe Sulu Fitzpatrick in a battle to bridge the gap between those in the finals bound positions and those who are not, is sure to be a cracker.
