2023 ANZ Premiership Team of the Week – Round 4

IT is Wednesday, which does mean it is time once again for another ANZ Premiership Team of the Week.

After another weekend full of excellent performances, who stood out enough to make this week’s team?

GS: Grace Nweke (Mystics)

After a slight drop in form Nweke was back to her shooting best on the weekend against the Stars. In the win she finished with 46 goals from 46 attempts and one rebound.

GA: Te Paea Selby-Rickit (Tactix)

Double the Tactix games meant double the great performances from Selby-Rickit on the weekend.

Against the Pulse she finished with 17 goals and only three misses, plus 13 assists and 18 feeds, while against the Magic she finished with 14 goals and only three misses plus 20 feeds and 19 assists.

WA: Kimiora Poi (Tactix)

Much like team mate Selby-Rickit, double the Tactix games meant double the stellar performances from Poi on the weekend.

Against the Pulse she finished with 42 feeds, 17 assists, three gains, two deflections and an intercept, and against the Magic she finished with 30 feeds, 18 assists, one gain, one deflection and an intercept.

C: Mila Reuelu-Buchanan (Stars)

Despite her side ultimately going down, Reuelu-Buchanan was a workhorse through midcourt, finishing with 46 feeds, 17 assists, two gains and two intercepts.

WD: Claire Kersten (Magic)

Although she only played half a game in wing defence, Kersten still managed to outshine the rest of her fellow wing defenders.

Against the Steel, she finished with 16 feeds, 11 assists, two assists and two intercepts.

GD: Karin Burger (Tactix)

Much like Selby-Rickit and Poi, Burger had two stellar performances over the weekend.

Against the Pulse she finished with three gains, three deflections and two intercepts, and against the Magic she finished with seven deflections, five feeds, three intercepts and a feed.

GK: Erena Mikaere (Magic)

In another Team of the Week worthy set of performances, Mikaere had two great performances over the weekend.

Against the Steel she finished with six gains, five deflections, three intercepts and three rebounds. Meanwhile against the Tactix she finished with four gains, three deflections, two rebounds and two intercepts.

Bench

Aliyah Dunn (Tactix)

Dunn had another stellar performance over the weekend, but was unfortunately pipped at the post by a higher volume from Nweke.

Against the Magic, she shot 43 goals from 43 attempts, and also recorded five feeds and two assists.

Gina Crampton (Stars)

In other fierce battle for the mid court spots in the Team of the Week, Crampton just missed out to the double big performing Poi.

Against the Mystics Crampton finished with 46 feeds and 25 assists.

Kelly Jury (Pulse)

In other stellar performance from Jury, despite her side going down Jury finished with six gains, three deflections, three rebounds and two intercepts.
