2023 NSL | Round 8 & 9 preview: Double weekend, double trouble
ONE thing that will be hard to do as a fan of British netball is be bored over the next few days, because this weekend is absolutely action packed.
Not only is it another double round weekend, but there is absolutely no break between them, so it’s one mixed together weekend. As the last of the Round 8 fixtures is getting underway in London, two of the Round 9 fixtures are wrapping up.
The Thunder, Sirens, Bath and Rhinos all only have one game this weekend, while everyone else has two. All four of the single game sides also only play sides that have two games this weekend, so that may become a factor that favours the in their games.
Another factor that may play a part in this weekend’s results is travel. Of the sides that have to play twice, all bar Loughborough have one game at home and one game away. Loughborough on the other hand is lucky enough to have both games at home this weekend.
For the Stars and Mavericks, their away games are also against sides – the Rhinos and Team Bath – that only have to play one game this weekend.
Speaking of the Mavericks, they really have the double whammy this weekend. Not only do they have to play two games, but both their games are against sides that only have to play once this weekend.
Regardless, management of players will be crucial this weekend more than most as sides race towards the halfway point of the season.
