Saracens Mavericks announce 2024 squad
THE Netball Super League (NSL) off season signings have well and truly begun, with several clubs announcing their full 2024 squads.
One of those is the Saracens Mavericks, who have several new faces among their 12-player squad for next season.
There are eight returning faces to the Mavericks line up for 2024, which includes Georgia Lees, who returns as a full team member after being named as an Additional Training Partner last season.
In defence, Razia Quashie and Jodie Gibson both return after impressive 2023 campaigns, and they are joined by two new recruits in the defender’s group.
Peace Akinyemi returns to the NSL after a year away, while Vicki Oyesola – who is a former Mavericks’ pathway player – moves across from the Leeds Rhinos to come join the north London side.
The midcourt is largely the same as it was in 2023. Lees, Aliyah Zaranyika and Lisa Mather are all returning in 2024, and they will be joined next season by Ellie Rattu. Rattu is a former Maverick who returns to the club after a few years away at the London Pulse.
Moving through to the shooters, and again this cohort is almost the same as it was in 2023.
Kira Rothwell, Ine-Mari Venter and Britney Clarke are all returning in 2024, and will be joined by Emma Thacker. Thacker moves across to the Mavericks off the back of a title win with the Loughborough Lightning.
These announcements mean that Beth Ecuyer-Dale, Christina Shaw, Ellie Kelk, Monique Meyer and Sasha Corbin are all not returning to the Mavericks’ squad in 2024.
Mavericks’ head coach Camilla Buchanan is certainly excited by her side she has for 2024 and cannot wait to get started ahead of next season.
“When you can’t wait to get out on court for the first training session, you know you’re in a good place.” Buchanan said.
“We can’t wait for our supporters to feel that same buzz when they come to HSV this season. We’ve got a really great balance across the board and more importantly, we’ve got a group of great people in the squad that want to give their all. It’s a really exciting time for us.”
