Five players to watch: Aussies in the NSL 2025

IT IS the dawn of a new era in English netball, and Aussies are right at the forefront of it.
With the rebirth of the Netball Super League, Australians are a focal point of many of the eight teams set to contest the 2025 season. With that in mind, here are some of the Aussies to keep an eye on this season, with a mixture of brand new faces, old faces and returning faces.
Jacqui Newton
Club: Cardiff Dragons
Position: Defender
Unlike everyone else on this list, Newton is not a new face in the Super League this season, having been with the Dragons for a few years now. But despite that, it is a big year for Newton too as she takes on the captaincy of the Dragons for the first time, so it will be interesting to see how much growth the defender has as both a player and a person this season.
Gabby Sinclair
Club: BirminghamPanthers
Position: Shooter
It has been a hard few year in Sinclair’s career, bouncing between clubs and leagues just trying to find a proper home. But, 2025 has seen her end up at a brand new club in the Panthers, and with a real opportunity to make a huge impact and some history at the same time.
Gabby Coffey
Club: Birmingham Panthers
Position: Defender
Sinclair will not be the only Aussie at the Panthers in 2025, with defender Coffey also joining her. Coffey is someone who has really had to be patient to get the opportunity she now has with the Panthers after being an Suncorp Super Netball (SSN) training partner for so long, so it will be interesting to watch this season and see how hard she attacks this season and how much she lives up to the saying “good things come to those who wait”.
Emily Andrew
Club: London Mavericks
Position: Shooter
Andrew is another on this list that has been starved of top level opportunities in Australia, so has jumped at the chance at a proper contract overseas. Like Coffey, Andrew has been an SSN training partner for a little while, but after consistently performing at state league level she will be looking to take her reliability under the ring and make an impact straight away for the Mavericks.
Tyler Orr
Club: London Pulse
Position: Midcourter
Being a training partner at the back-to-back SSN champions cannot be easy for the career progression, and as such Orr has jumped at the chance to head to the UK for a proper contract. Training alongside a number of English Roses and other internationals will be big for Orr’s game, so it will be interesting to see how much her game lifts and how much court time she can get this season.
