Games of the Weekend | May 17 – 20
HEAT and energy will sure be in plentiful supply this weekend as there is a lot on the line in the world of netball.
ANZ PREMIERSHIP
MATCH OF THE ROUND
Northern Mystics vs. WBOP Magic
Monday, 7:30pm
The Trusts Arena, Auckland
This weekend’s ANZ Premiership action concludes with a third versus fourth clash in Auckland.
The hosts the Mystics have finally got their season after a poor start to the season, while the Magic have had an up and down start to the year and will be looking for some consistency in their momentum.
There are plenty of match ups that are sure to be interesting to watch in this clash.
Whether Grace Nweke returns or Hannah Glen keeps her spot remains to be seen, but either way whoever takes that goal shooter spot is going to have a tough time competing with Erena Mikaere.
Up the other end Phoenix Karaka is going to have an important job shutting down Ameliaranne Ekenasio and Saviour Tui.

Mainland Tactix vs. Southern Steel | Sunday, 4pm @ MainPower Stadium, Rangiora
NETBALL SUPERLEAGUE
MATCH OF THE ROUND
Surrey Storm vs Severn Stars
Saturday, 6pm
Surrey Sports Park
This is an important match in the context of the season.
This match is between the teams currently in fourth and fifth on the ladder, and is especially crucial for the fifth placed home side the Storm. They are two games and a significant goal difference behind the Stars, so if they want to keep any kind of hope of playing finals alive they must win this weekend.
The mid court battle this week is going to be intriguing. Bethany Dix has really been a leading force for the Storm in recent weeks, but how will she go contending with the likes of Gabby Marshall?

Manchester Thunder vs Saracens Mavericks | Friday, 7:30pm @ Belle Vue Arena
Strathclyde Sirens vs London Pulse | Friday, 7:30pm @ Sports Hall, Emirates

SUNCORP SUPER NETBALL
MATCH OF THE ROUND
Melbourne Vixens vs. Sunshine Coast Lightning
Saturday at 5pm
John Cain Arena
The ladder might say one thing about the importance of this game, but the context surrounding it tells a very different story.
This is a battle of second versus fifth with four wins separating them, but it is a lot more than that.
This is the first time long time now former Vixen Liz Watson returns to John Cain Arena, so there is expected to be plenty of heat in the match, especially if Watson finds herself in centre against Kate Moloney, the team mate she shared captaincy duties with just last season.
On top of this, the Lightning are on a four match losing run, so would love nothing more than to break that run in front of what might be a particularly hostile Vixens’ home crowd.
