THE squads for the 2024 international netball season keep rolling in, with the Republic of Ireland the latest nation to announce their squad.
The Emeralds have announced a 12 player squad that is set to compete at next month’s Netball Nations Cup tournament in Singapore.
It is largely the same squad that contested the Euros earlier in the year, with a couple of changes.
Again led by Fran Duffy, there is only one new face from the squad that went to the Isle of Man for the Euros. After last representing the Republic against Northern Ireland last December, defender Eve Wills returns to the squad.
Of the players that went to the Euros, Katie Knox, Corey McGlynn and Eryn Salako have dropped out of the squad for the Nations Cup.
Ireland will be looking for a better result this tournament after a disappointing third place finish in Division One at the Euros. The Irish returns to the Nations Cup this year after not competing in the tournament in 2023, and will be looking for a better finish this time around than their fourth placed finish in 2022.
The Singapore Netball Nations Cup is an annual tournament run by Netball Singapore, and sees about six up and coming nations competing at the tournament. This year it is Kenya, Canada, Ireland, the UAE and Singapore’s Open and A teams competing. The tournament will run from September 1 to 7, and will be streamed via Facebook.
