New era as new Super League squads revealed
IT was a huge day in British netball overnight with the Netball Super League announcing their squads for the 2025 season.
Ahead of the relaunched, new professional era of the Super League, all eight clubs announced who was in their 2025 squads on the one day, staggering their announcements across the day and even getting slots on Sky News for each club to drum up support for the new league.
In terms of squad make up, there were a variety of paths the eight sides went down. There were clubs like the Thunder who essentially kept their entire 2024 squads barring a small number of changes, clubs like the Mavericks who went half and half in terms of new and returning faces, and clubs like the Panthers and Forrest who are new to the competition and had no choice but to get all new places. Interestingly though, both the Panthers and Forrest mainly signed players from clubs no longer in the Super League, as opposed to taking disenfranchised players from continuing clubs.
