Allie Smith has headed north for the 2022 season, leaving 2020 premiers Melbourne Vixens for 2021 premiers, NSW Swifts for a fresh opportunity after a difficult season. A versatile midcourter, Smith is one to watch out for with her versatility coming in droves and ability to have an instant impact around circle edge. Smith has an impressive burst of speed to create deflections and a high endurance base which allows her to form a crucial cog driving the ball up the court. Typically rotating through wing defence and centre, but also able to play out in wing attack, she has shown plenty of capability to adjust quickly between the two positions and play a high impact role.
With a long wingspan and quick feet, Smith is a handy addition to the Swifts ranks and is the type of player who will throw herself at any opportunity on the court. She should adjust well to the Swifts' rotations and provide a real spark off the bench. While she can sometimes hover in between a zone defence and one on one, she offers a heap of potential and room to improve on her smarts and netball know-how. Smith is a hard worker with plenty of hunger to propel herself further, and should fit in nicely to the Swifts ranks with her adaptability and ability to apply constant pressure on both the ball handler and receiver.
