More than 12 months ago, not many people would have recognised Amy Parmenter, but by year’s end, every netball fan knew her name. Making her debut in Round 1, Parmenter would go on to play 14 games in the season and win the Rising Star Award, and GIANTS Members’ Player of the Year Award. Her rise also culminated in selection to the Diamonds’ Development Squad which was named at the end of the year, and she will provide a strong midcourt trio with Jamie-Lee Price and Kiera Austin in 2020.
Parmenter is an excitement machine able to generate plenty of turnover ball with her speed off the mark and impressive timing. She can turn a game on its head with her skill and strength particularly around the circle edge, with her three-foot marking and nimble footwork. Never out of the contest, Parmenter is a commanding figure in the defensive third for the GIANTS given her aerial abilities and skill to read the play. The wing defence can switch into centre with ease able to hit the circle edge and deliver well-weighted passes into the goalers.
