A consistent figure inside the defensive circle, Jo Trip is a real workhorse who plays her role each time she steps out on court. With long arms and a sense of determination the defender is able to wreak havoc with her quick movement and overall read of the play. She has been a solid contributor for the Mavericks often plying her trade out the front of the likes of Razia Quashie to reduce the speed in which the ball enters the circle. Standing at 188cm and hailing from New Zealand, Trip uses her height to get up to the loopy passes and somewhat control the airwaves swatting passes away, using her zoning defensive attributes to impact off the ball. Although not the flashiest player out on court, Trip's determination and evasiveness allow her fellow defender to shine time and again. Her persistence and quick thinking enable her to slot into spaces and pick off balls in the defensive third, and consistently provide crucial ball back for her teammates.
