A terrific defender who has not necessarily yet had her time in the spotlight, Dehaney is a solid talent with impressive wing span to pluck ball out of the air and apply pressure over the pass and shot. The Jamaican goal keeper has gained greater exposure with the Melbourne Vixens over the past two years in particular, and came into high regard over the 2021 free agency period with a number of clubs head-hunting. Evidently making the switch from the Vixens navy to the Sunshine Coast Lightning, expect Dehaney to earn consistent court time with her ability to change the game in a split second and form a really cohesive Lightning defensive unit for 2022.
With unsuspecting speed, evasiveness and a knack for finding the loose ball, Dehaney can be a real threat when she is on song with her excellent read of the play and explosiveness. Still somewhat underrated despite her work rate and ability to provide a threat off the bench, Dehaney is a hard worker who deserves greater court time after steadily developing her craft. With consistent minutes at the Lightning, she will be a massive threat in the goal circle, able to adapt to the play at hand and provide crucial turnovers out of defence.
