PREVIEW | 2024 ANZ Premiership – Round 13
ALL eyes will be on one particular match this weekend as the ANZ Premiership season really starts to heat up.
MATCH OF THE ROUND
WBOP Magic vs. Central Pulse
Monday at 7:30pm
Globox Arena, Hamilton
With three more weeks left of the season, this match could be the most telling of the three happening this weekend in terms of the final ladder.
The Magic currently sit in third, and with the fourth placed Mystics unable to catch either of the top two sides, the Magic are the only ones currently in the top three still in danger of missing out on finals.
Meanwhile the Pulse on the other hand still have a fight of their own. They currently sit on top of the ladder but only a point ahead of the second placed Tactix, so will want to bank as many wins as possible to avoid having to play in the elimination final.
These two have played twice already this season, which had two very different results.
In Round 2 it was a 12 goal win to the Pulse, but things did not start out that way.
The Magic jumped out to a one goal quarter time lead, but the Pulse regained control in the second term and an 18 goal to 11 third term in the Pulse’s favour is where things really blew open.
In Round 7 however it was a very different story, as the Magic emerged 17 goal victors to hand the Pulse one of only two losses they have suffered so far this season. They won every quarter but really blew things open in the third term with a 12 goal to five term.
The section of the court to watch on Monday night has to be the Magic attack end.
Saviour Tui and Ameliaranne Ekenasio have really grown into a strong partnership this season, but will have some strong opposition this week in Parris Mason and Kelly Jackson, with the latter coming off some ridiculous numbers last week.
