PREVIEW | VNL Round 10 2024: Is it time for a shake up?

AS the 2024 VNL season continues to power towards its halfway point, things are continuing to get very interesting.

Tonight’s Round 10 action begins with a clash between the Falcons and Saints.

The Saints are delicately poised at the moment, sitting one win out of the top four but with a better percentage than fourth placed Geelong. They do however face a Falcons side which can be very difficult to stop in full flight, so the Saints will need to be on their toes.

Speaking of the Cougars, they have a good chance to boost their percentage tonight. They come up against the Peninsula Waves, who will be well rested after having the bye last week, but have struggled this season. Perhaps the Cougars will see an opportunity to pile on goals while they can.

Two sides who will be frustrated with how last week went for them is Casey and the North East Blaze, who meet tonight.

Casey found it difficult to generate turnover ball last week against the Falcons, which really cost them, while the Blaze suffered their first loss of the season last week and will want to ensure it does not become a trend.

The fourth match of the night is a fifth versus sixth encounter as the Hawks take on the Strikers.

Half a game and just under three percent is all that separates the teams, so it could be an interesting match tonight. The Strikers are also buoyed by what some may call an unexpected win over the Lightning last week, while the Hawks are coming off a narrow loss.

The final match of the round sees the Lightning and Express battle it out.

The Lightning are desperate for some consistency in their season, but may struggle to find that against the only undefeated side left in the competition.

This week’s team with the bye is the Western Warriors, who get the chance to rest up after an up and down start to their life in the competition.
