PREVIEW | VNL Round 14 2024: Time for First Nations Round
ROUND 14 marks First Nations Round in the VNL, only further heightening the importance of the latest set of fixtures.
The first match this week is the second Grand Final rematch of the year between the Express and the Falcons.
Last time these two sides met it was a narrow one goal win to the Express, but will history repeat itself again tonight?
Consistency is one thing that the Western Warriors have not necessarily been able to enjoy this season, but they have the chance this week for a rare second win in a row when they take on the Waves.
The Waves may also see this match as a chance to finally get that first win of 2024 on the board, but realistically the Warriors will be the ones that will go into the match as favourites.
One team that will be wanting to get their skates on this week is the Bendigo Strikers, who face the Saints.
The Strikers will be well rested after a week off, but they face a Saints side who will not want to slip further behind the teams that are in front of them in the race for finals spots.
What will perhaps be the match of the round is the one between Melbourne Uni and the Hawks.
These two are fourth and fifth on the ladder at the moment, with one win being all that separated the pair.
Thanks to percentages being so tight, the winner of this match will progress to third while the loser will stay stuck in the middle of a tight chasing pack.
The last match of tonight’s fixtures is an intriguing one.
The Cougars come into tonight’s clash off the back of a loss last week, and as a side who has been one of the ones to beat in recent years will not want to slip any further than they already have.
They face a Dees side who have been on the wrong side of some tight clashes in recent weeks, but as the side currently in the penultimate ladder spot would love nothing more than to bank a win and climb the ladder at least a little bit.
The North East Blaze are the ones who get the bye this week, and it comes at a good time for the side to restart their year after a poor month.
