SSN signings week three – Young guns earn senior contracts

ANOTHER big week of Suncorp Super Netball signings has seen up-for-grabs players fly off the shelves while a number of developing talents have earned a maiden contract. Six of the eight teams have officially sewn up their 10-player squads for 2022.

It has been a big week for young developing talents, with a number of Australian young guns earning maiden contracts as clubs opt to develop pathways players across the country over some of the 2021-contracted players on offer. Among those are a heap of former training partners, with Sunshine Coast Lightning signing former Queensland Firebirds training partner Reilley Batcheldor and former GIANTS training partner Annie Miller, while GIANTS have put their faith in Amy Sligar and Matisse Letherbarrow, and Tayla Williams has signed her first contract with Adelaide Thunderbirds. The aforementioned five join an already exciting list of maiden contractees, with Maggie LindRahni SamasonHannah MundyKelly SingletonRuby Bakewell-Doran and Mia Stower already raring to go.

In other signings this week, premiership player Lauren Moore has jumped ship from NSW Swifts to GIANTS, while Rudi Ellis heads to West Coast Fever after two seasons with the Queensland Firebirds. West Coast Fever has re-signed a number of its 2021 contracted players, while Lightning will see the return of Laura Scherian and Karla Pretorius, Firebirds have confirmed the reacquisition of Gretel Bueta, and Thunderbirds have confirmed Lenize Potgieter.

Meanwhile it was announced that Surrey Storm in the Vitality Netball Superleague (VNSL) signed Lightning goalshooter Peace Proscovia, taking her off the free agents list for the Australian competition.
