Stats Leaders: SSN 2022 Round 5

ONE third of the 2022 Suncorp Super Netball (SSN) season is done and won already, so check out who is leading the stats as we move into the middle part of the season.

Shooting

Goals and Goal Attempts

The top four in both the Goals and Goal Attempts tallies are the exact same four players in the exact same order. Top of both tallies is Fever star Jhaniele Fowler, who has shot 282 goals from 296 attempts. Second on the list is Firebirds gun recruit Donnell Wallam, who has shot 210 goals from 244 attempts.

Shimona Nelson and Mwai Kumwenda are third and fourth respectively in both tallies, but fifth place is where things differ. Fifth place on the goals tally is Lightning star Cara Koenen, while it’s Jo Harten who has had the fifth most attempts in the league.

Super Shots and Super Shot Attempts

The top five in both the Super Shots and Super Shot Attempts is the same five players, just in a different order.

However, it is Helen Housby who comes out on top in both categories. She has shot 27 Super Shots thus far this season, two more than Sasha Glasgow. GIANTS skipper Harten has nailed 19 of them, followed by Steph Wood and Wallam to round out the top five.

Moving across to the attempts tally now, and Housby has had 46 attempts, followed by Harten and Glasgow on 42 attempts each, and then Wallam and Wood on 30 attempts each.

Goal Assists

It is another Fever star as well as a Swift who lead the league for goal assists thus far this season. Remarkably, although not a midcourter it is Glasgow who leads the tally alongside Swifts midcourter Maddy Proud, who have both registered 117 goal assists.

That figure is nine higher than third place on the list, which is Vixens skipper Liz Watson. Kelsey Browne and Lara Dunkley round out the top five.

Defensive

Looking at the deflections tally, and it is Fever skipper Courtney Bruce who comes out on top, with 29 deflections for the season thus far. Sarah Klau is second on the tally with 23, followed by Latanya Wilson on 20. Matilda McDonell and Shamera Sterling round out the top five.

Looking across at the intercept tally, and it is Sterling who comes out on top with 21. This is six higher then second placed Bruce, and ten higher then third placed Jo Weston. Hannah Petty and Amy Parmenter round out the top five.

Rebounds

Taking a look at the offensive rebounds, and it is Fowler who comes out on top with 17, followed by Nelson on 14, Housby and Kumwenda on 11 and Wallam on 10.

In terms of the defensive rebounds, it is Sterling and Bruce who lead with 20, followed by Eboni Usoro-Brown on 12, with McDonnell and Wilson rounding out the top five.
