Mixed Premier Division – Round 9
23/10/19
7:00, 9:40pm

All three of the Valley Wolves, DDNA and Pasifika Sharks sit on the same number of wins and will be hoping to get some separation this round to claim a more consistent spot in the top four. Melbourne City Blackhawks have been tasked with the challenge of ending the Panthers’ winning streak while the Geelong Cougars will be hoping to notch up their seventh win for the season against the lower placed Eastside Sonics. St Therese will have to put up a strong effort if they are to upset the Valley Wolves with the Wolves looking to stake their claim on the competition while the NNE Vipers have the week off.

DDNA and Sharks are set to face off in arguably one of the biggest games of the round with huge ladder repercussions. DDNA currently sit in fourth place on the ladder, but a loss here could see them drop out and allow the Sharks to go one game clear. Both sides have a plethora of key players with the likes of Junior Levi an incredible target for the Sharks up either end. Levi has spent time both in defence and attack in recent weeks and has showcased his sheer class and domination given his commanding height and deceptive speed. Cameron Powell could also prove to be a handful for DDNA with the New Zealand goaler able to turn a game on its head. Poni Smith is another crucial player for the Sharks given his versatility able to switch between positions. But DDNA have their own star power with Christian White renowned for his accuracy and range in the goal circle, and if let off early he could cause all sorts of havoc. Ellen Hurley is also handy in the goal circle able to post a hefty total while Sam Bury can hit the scoreboard if needed. Chelsea Manisani and Sam Mackerras have both proven their worth to DDNA through the midcourt with the two finding good space and able to feed into the shooters with ease making for an interesting contest between the two sides.
