VNL 2023 | Round 2 Preview: Was last week a sign of what is to come this season?
IT IS another week, which means another round of exciting Victorian Netball League action.
Last week through up a few surprises, so it will be interesting to see if those results are a sign of what is to come this season or not.
The biggest surprise packets out of Round 1 were the Southern Saints, who scored the biggest surprise win of the round when they defeated last year’s Preliminary Finalists Melbourne Uni.
The Saints have Casey this week, who is coming off a loss last week but both sides were around a similar mark last season, so it should be a good battle to see where both teams are at.
Melbourne Uni on the other hand has got quite the challenge in order to bounce back from last week, as it is up against Geelong who had a solid win over last year’s champions City West.
City West has a slightly easier task this week, as it is set to face the Peninsula Waves, who were comfortably beaten by Boroondara last week.
In the remaining clash tonight, the North East Blaze are taking on Hawks Netball. Both sides were victorious last week so will be keen to keep that winning momentum going this week and keep their undefeated status.
Regardless, one round does not make a season, so the next few weeks will tell everyone a lot about what to expect this year. Plenty of new faces at different clubs can make all the difference, so time will tell if last weekend was the real guide or not.
