THE Victorian Netball League (VNL) Round 19 fixture saw plenty of clubs hit the road with each club playing away from the State Netball Central.

Warriors add tick to debut season, add roadblock to Lightning finals hopes

The Western Warriors won their sixth match of their debut season, after defeating Melbourne Uni by 10 goals in Ballarat.

Despite the final result, it was actually the Lightning who got off to the better start, and took a five-goal lead into the first change. But the Warriors kicked into gear in the second term and took the lead by the time half-time came around and did not look back from there.

Hawks demolish Waves

The Hawks picked up important percentage in the race for the finals after comfortably defeating Peninsula. Peninsula’s scoring issues continue to plague them as the Hawks were already 11 goals ahead at the first change and just kept growing their lead from there.

Geelong stays in touch with top four after narrow win

Geelong Cougars picked up a narrow win over Bendigo Strikers to crucially keep in touch with the top four.

Bendigo was actually the early leader, taking a four-goal lead into quarter time. but after a 16 goals to nine second term in the Cougars favour, the lead had flipped by the time the next break came around. Bendigo then lifted in the third term and levelled things up by the time the teams turned for home, but the Cougars lifted again in the final term to take the win.

Falcons flex class in top of table clash

City West Falcons showed their class once again, comfortably defeating North East Blaze in the top of the table clash. The Falcons were already 10 goals up by the time quarter time rolled around, and it was a sign of things to come as they held that kind of buffer at every change for the rest of the afternoon.

Saints keep faint finals hopes alive

Southern Saints kept their somewhat faint finals hopes alive with a narrow win over Casey.

Casey was actually the early leader, taking a four-goal lead into quarter time. but the Saints then scored 17 goals to 12 to take the lead just on half-time. Casey then managed to level things up by the time three quarter time rolled around, but the Saints shot ahead in the final term to take the win.
