Your quick guide to the 2019 Vitality Superleague

UNSURE of the details of the 2019 England Vitality Netball Superleague? Here’s your easy guide to the competition.

There are 18 rounds to the 2019 Vitality Netball Superleague, starting January 5 with the regular season ending 4 May, and following with two rounds of finals. Two semi finals will take place on Saturday, May 11 with the winners to take the court for the grand final on Saturday, May 18.

This early start and finish to the season will allow for eligible athletes to rest prior to the Netball World Cup in July.

There are ten teams competing in 2019, with London Pulse joining the competition for the first time after Team Northumbria bade farewell at the close of the 2018 season. Joining Pulse in the 2019 league are Celtic Dragons, Team Bath, Wasps Netball, Loughborough Lightning, Severn Stars, Strathclyde Sirens, Surrey Storm, Manchester Thunder and the newly coined Saracens Mavericks.

A number of netball household names are scattered throughout the 2019 league, with Serena Guthrie returning home to join Team Bath after two years at GIANTS Netball in Australia’s Suncorp Super Netball. Fellow England teammate Ama Agbeze will hope to continue her successful run in the Vitality Superleague after signing with new team London Pulse in 2019.

With a successful Wasps Netball premiership, Sunshine Series and Fast5 Netball World Series representing England in 2018, up and coming goaler George Fisher has jumped ship to Saracens Mavericks. Sirens Netball have gained New Zealand shooter Cat Tuivaiti in 2019, after a less than successful 2018 at Suncorp Super Netball’s Adelaide Thunderbirds. Aussie Kim Commane has crossed the ocean to join Wasps Netball in 2019, after failing to gain a regular start on court with the Melbourne Vixens in 2018.
