Youth the flavour for England ahead of Taini Jamison
THERE is a breath of freshness in the air at England Netball, as the Roses name a very different looking squad for the upcoming Taini Jamison Trophy series against New Zealand.
Due to a planned break for those who played at the Netball World Cup, a very different looking Roses squad has been named for this series.
All three of the World Cup Reserves are named for this tour though, with Sophie Drakeford-Lewis, Amy Carter and Halimat Adio all in the squad of 14.
Adio is one of seven members of the squad who are in line to make their English debuts.
One of those is Sasha Glasgow, who sensationally earlier this year declared her allegiance to the Roses after continually missing out on opportunities with the Australian Diamonds.
Jayda Pechova, Alicia Scholes and Emma Thacker all went to the Fast5 Netball World Series in Christchurch but could make their senior Roses debuts, as could Ella Bowen and Berri Neil.
No captain or wider leadership group has been announced for the series yet, but is expected to be named in the coming weeks.
It is not just on court that has seen a complete change, with the coaching staff for this tour completely different too.
Roses head coach Jess Thirlby is also taking a break, so Leeds Rhinos head coach and Roses Technical coach Liana Leota is stepping into the hot seat and taking over as the role for the series. She will be aided by London Pulse head coach Sam Bird and former Rose and current SSN GIANT Jo Harten.
