2020 ATP Hungarian Open fantasy tennis: Krajinovic aims to go one better in Budapest final

SERBIAN Filip Krajinovic will contest his second consecutive Hungarian Open in a bid to win his second ATP Tour title after cracking through for a maiden victory at Marrakech earlier this year. The second seed will take on South African wildcard, Kevin Anderson in the final after the pair won through with impressive performances against their respective opponents.

Krajinovic knocked off John Millman in straight sets 6-3 6-4 to earn another place in the decider, while Anderson took down Argentinian Juan Martin del Potro in a come-from-behind three-set win, 2-6 6-4 6-2.

The number two seed had to be at his best to shake off a determined Millman, but the in-form Krajinovic was just a little cleaner when it counted, breaking four times to two across the 96-minute match.

Anderson had a much tougher encounter, needing to come back from a disappointing first set to run over the top of del Potro in two hours and 40 minutes. The South African former top 10 player was showing glimpses of his best against an equally elite talent when at the peak of their careers. It was a huge win for Anderson who is looking to get back inside the top 100 ahead of Roland Garros in a month’s time.

The 203cm South African is gunning for his sixth title, having won his first all the way back in 2011. With a three-year break between his third and fourth titles, Anderson has won three in the past two years, though none have come on clay. Krajinovic won at Marrakech a couple of weeks ago, but had not previously won a title, nor have the pair faced off in their time on tour.

SEMI FINALS RESULTS:

[2] Filip Krajinovic (SRB) defeated [6] John Millman (AUS) 6-3 6-4
[WC] Kevin Anderson (RSA) defeated Juan Martin del Potro (ARG) 2-6 6-4 6-2
