2020 ATP Hungarian Open fantasy tennis: One-sided results highlight day two in Budapest

IN a complete turnaround from the opening day of action at the 2020 ATP Hungarian Open fantasy tennis tournament, every single match was just the two sets in a one-sided day of results.

Just one seed – Borna Coric – advanced through to the next round while the other seed in action – Vasek Pospisil – fell at the first hurdle. Coric triumphed in a 6-1 6-1 smashing of Australian, Chris O’Connell to race through to the next round in just 52 minutes. Meanwhile Frenchman Pierre-Hugues Herbert made his way into the second round with a 6-2 6-4 victory over Pospisil.

Elsewhere, South African wildcard Kevin Anderson handed out the biggest belting of the day, a 6-0 6-1 trouncing of Romanian qualifier, Marius Copil. The match lasted just 45 minutes and was done before anyone knew it, with Anderson showing just what he is capable of on the comeback trail.

Swedish young gun Mikael Ymer took out another Australian in wildcard Thanasi Kokkinakis 6-3 6-3 to leave John Millman as the sole Australian through to the next round in a disastrous day for the Aussie hopes. Qualifier Matthew Ebden was the other one who fell in the first round, suffering a 6-0 6-3 defeat at the hands of returning Argentinian, Juan Martin del Potro. The final match saw Serbian qualifier, Viktor Troicki win through 6-4 7-5 with a victory over Italian Marco Cecchinato.

In tomorrow’s Round of 16 action, second seed and in-form Filip Krajinovic takes on Italian young gun Jannik Sinner, while Millman faces Serbian Laslo Djere in a couple of the matches to watch.
