2020 ATP Miami Open fantasy tennis: Djokovic and Nadal to go head-to-head in final

WORLD number one Novak Djokovic will face his closest rival in Rafael Nadal when the pair clashes in the 2020 ATP Tour’s Miami Open fantasy tennis tournament final tomorrow. The Serbian star and the Spanish champion will lock horns after getting through their semi-finals without too much trouble. Showing just how good they are compared to the rest of the field, neither dropped a set in the penultimate stage of the tournament to book a spot in the final.

Up first, Nadal had an early challenge from Canadian wildcard Vasek Pospisil who broke in the opening game and held as much as a 3-1 lead at one stage. Nadal broke back after that though, and did not stop, winning the next seven consecutive games to not only win the first set, but break his opponent in the opening game of the second set. From there both players were able to relatively hold, and at 5-3 up, Nadal was not content to wait anymore. The world number two broke a second time in the set, taking out the match 6-3 6-3 in an hour and 38 minutes.

The second match of the day was even quicker with Djokovic blowing sixth seed Alexander Zverev off the court. For the second consecutive match, Djokovic kept a top 10 opponent to love in a set as he rolled past the German talent 6-4 6-0. The match lasted just 88 minutes and after Zverev seemed to match it with the Serbian for the most part, Djokovic went to another level, winning the last eight games of the match to storm to victory and book a place in the final. He will hope to go one better than his Indian Wells finals appearance last tournament.

Djokovic and Nadal will play for the 56th time in their careers, with the world number one leading 29-26 in the head-to-head stat. These two have met three times in Miami with Djokovic winning all three, including the 2011 and 2014 titles here.
