2020 ATP Rome Masters fantasy tennis: Top three and Wawrinka to contest semi-finals

THE 2020 ATP Rome Masters fantasy tennis tournament semi-finals have been decided in a rather predictable fashion, as 16th seed Stan Wawrinka joined the top three players in the world in the final four. There were no three-set matches in the quarter finals with all four players advancing through to the semis.

Wawrinka took down Madrid Masters finalist Andy Murray in the tightest game of the day, winning 6-4 7-5 in an hour and 42 minutes to make his way into the semis. Just two extra breaks separated the two players as a break in the ninth game and then in the 11th game of the first and second sets respectively handed the Swiss hitter the match and win through.

Rafael Nadal made yet another semi-final on the clay by winning through with a 6-3 6-2 victory over Chilean Cristian Garin. It reversed the result from the Madrid Masters where the talented up and comer got the better of his more experienced opponent. This time it was all Nadal who blew him away in an hour and 18 minutes to make his way into the second last round of the tournament.

In the other matches, top three players, Novak Djokovic and Dominic Thiem will go into the semi-finals tomorrow after winning their respective matches comfortably. Djokovic destroyed eighth seed Diego Schwartzman in just an hour and six minutes, 6-2 6-0 to race through to the second round, whilst Thiem defeated the in-form Filip Krajinovic in the final quarter final, 6-3 6-3 to be the last semi-finalist through.

Tomorrow Nadal takes on Thiem first up, before Djokovic and Wawrinka lock horns in the other semi-final immediately after.
