PETRA Kvitova and Daniil Medvedev will head into tomorrow’s fantasy tennis tournaments as favourites in Nottingham and Stuttgart respectively. The pair won their semi-finals today and booked huge clashes against reigning Nottingham champion Caroline Garcia, and in-form American John Isner.

Kvitova won in straight sets against Frenchwoman Kristina Mladenovic 7-5 6-3 to book safe passage into the final, hoping to take down Mladenovic’s compatriot in Garcia. While Mladenovic fought throughout the 86-minute contest, Kvitova had the extra touch of class when it counted and won through to the decider. Garcia had a much more challenging match, forced to come from behind to knock off seventh seed Croatian Donna Vekic in a replay of last year’s final. Garcia dropped the first set before recovering to win 4-6 6-3 6-4 to make her way into the Nature Valley Open final once again.

In Germany, second seed Medvedev won through with an impressive win over fellow top 15 player, Matteo Berrettini. The Russian world number five had an easier than expected match against the world number 15, getting up 6-4 6-3 in an hour and 24 minutes, Now he takes on American Isner who defeated fellow unseeded player, Marin Cilic. While Cilic had toppled top seed Alexander Zverev in the Round of 16, it was Isner who triumphed in the semi-finals, winning in a come-from-behind victory, 3-6 7-5 6-3.
