Djokovic claims 79th title, remains undefeated in 2020

WORLD number one, Novak Djokovic has claimed the 79th title of his career, remaining undefeated in 2020. Djokovic took out the Dubai Tennis Championships – the fifth time he has won the title – by defeating world number six, Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3 6-4. In a match that only lasted 78 minutes, Djokovic was too good for the second seed in Dubai, winning 6-3 6-4 on his way to the title.

In the match, Djokovic won 78 per cent of his first serve points off a 63 per cent efficiency, whilst winning 57 per cent of his second serve points to ensure he was able to maintain a strong consistency on-serve. He only had the three break point opportunities and capitalised each time, while Tsitsipas broke once from the two chances. The Greek star also won 77 per cent of his first serve points but was vulnerable off his second serve, winning just four of 17 as Djokovic took advantage.

Overall the Serbian star showed just why he is one of the greatest of all-time, winning 70 per cent of his service points and 57 per cent of his total points to celebrate back-to-back titles after his Australian Open triumph. His 2020 Dubai title follows on from his four other triumphs in five years when he won in 2009. 2010, 2011 and 2013. While Davis Cup is approaching, Djokovic’s next major tournament for ATP Tour points is at Indian Wells with the BNP Paribas Open starting from March 12.
