A HUGE month of 2022 Suncorp Super Netball signing action is done and dusted, with all eight 10-player teams confirmed for the upcoming season and some intriguing changes amongst the ranks. Without further ado, it is time to run through each of the 2022 team lists, with the next team up the Collingwood Magpies.
The Magpies have been knocking at the door of being genuine contenders for a couple of seasons now, and having retained majority of their squad heading into 2022 expect the Magpies to be right up there this coming season. The squad’s cohesion really blossomed throughout 2021 and with very little injuries to speak of heading into preseason, they should be raring to go with little disruptions to think of. While the absence of Kalifa McCollin and Mel Bragg leaves slight holes in the squad, the Magpies have found fairly reliable replacements throughout the free agency period, and look like they have the adaptability amongst the group to not only provide high powered across each area of the court, but also utilise and rotate the bench players to the same skill level.
Sophie Garbin (GS/GA)
A silky goal shooter with accuracy and reliability in spades. After spending a couple of years with the Swifts, Garbin is a huge firepower to add to the Magpies’ arsenal with her ability to rotate between both goal shooter and goal attack, and most importantly remain high impact in either position. While an intriguing move given she is not guaranteed a start, expect Garbin to at the very least share court time with her fellow goalers.
Maggie Lind (WA/C)
A Victorian Netball League pathways player, Lind has showcased her talent and earned an elevation off the training partner list for next season. She is a speedy attacking midcourter with smooth movement that can only get better with further exposure to the top level, plus has a tried and tested connection with the Magpies coaching staff which should see her slot in nicely.
