IT has been a huge opening week of Suncorp Super Netball signings thus far, with plenty of massive names signing back on to their respective clubs – 15 to be exact. While signings have steadily trickled in throughout the week, only a few fresh faces have officially been added to the mix thus far with plenty expected to come in the upcoming weeks. The big coup of the week is the confirmation of Sophie Garbin making the move down south, signing with the Collingwood Magpies for both 2022 and 2023. Two elevations have been announced, with Rahni Samason officially elevated from being a Melbourne Vixens training partner and injury replacement to be one of their 10 squad-members next season, while Maggie Lind has earned her first official call-up to the Collingwood Magpies ranks. In the non-signings, both Sam Poolman and Maddy McAuliffe have decided to call time on their respective careers, while the Swifts bench trio have all explored other options, with Nat Haythornthwaite heading back home to the UK and Lauren Moore turning down a contract in favour of fresh opportunities.
In massive news on Saturday morning, Collingwood re-signed eight players to complete its roster of 10 for the 2022 season. Geva Mentor, Ash Brazill, Kelsey Browne, Jodi-Ann Ward, Shimona Nelson and Molly Jovic all joined Garbin on two-year deals at the black and white, whilst Gabrielle Sinclair and Jacqui Newton signed on for next year.
