A clay court champion, Rafael Nadal is near-unbeatable on his preferred surface, winning 84 career titles to end 2019, of which 59 came on clay. It would be more than fair to call him the greatest clay player of all time, losing just 39 times from 475, at a massive 91.8 per cent win-loss ratio. Having won an additional 25 titles on hard and grass combined, he is still worthy of a top three player over the past 15 years. Of his 19 Grand Slam titles, an unprecedented 12 are Roland Garros, with US Open (four), Wimbledon (two) and Australian Open (one). Showing no signs of slowing down after some injury concerns in 2016, Nadal has won 15 titles in the past three seasons, including the past three Roland Garros's and two of the past three US Open's.

A good starter, Nadal wins 95 per cent of his matches where he salutes in the first set, but just 42.6 per cent when he loses his opening set.
