2021 Draft Central NAB League Boys TOTW: Round 4

THE 2021 NAB League season made its return over the weekend after a month-long hiatus, with budding draft prospects coming back with experience across a range of competitions. While the start of school football across Victoria has nabbed a few stars, plenty of talent remains in the competition, which has also been bolstered by the addition of five Northern Academies. Round 4 was stretched out to nine games, making the squeeze for team of the week (TOTW) spots all the more tight. Four teams – the Brisbane Lions Academy, Gippsland Power, Bendigo Pioneers, and Northern Territory Thunder – go without a single representative in the final squad of 24 this week, with Murray Bushrangers the only region to boast a high of three players after downing Oakleigh. >> SCROLL to see the full team The Bushies are represented by running defender Paddy Parnell (back pocket), four-goal hero Cameron McLeod (centre half-forward) and returning midfielder Zavier Maher (bench), all of whom are mid-season draft candidates. Another in that category, Ned Moyle also made the squad for his efforts in the ruck for Oakleigh, with Chargers captain Nick Daicos also selected once again after collecting a monster 44 disposals. Draft Central Player of the Week Fraser Marris skippers the side in Round 4 having taken hold in midfield throughout Greater Western Victoria’s (GWV) victory over Eastern Ranges. He won the vote in front of Northern Knights bull Joel Trudgeon, with the pair featuring among the starting centre bounce combination. The two also have teammates spearheading the attack, with Rebels skipper Josh Rentsch named at full forward alongside Northern debutant Anthony Caminiti (forward pocket), after both kicked five goals in their respective victories. Barring the academy prospects, Caminiti is also the sole debutant to have made the cut, a rare effort. There is a total of six Northern Academy members in the team of 24, with GWS, Gold Coast, and Sydney all laying claim to two representatives. The Suns also join Oakleigh and Sandringham Dragons as the only losing sides to have multiple players picked this week. Finn Callaghan (wing) and Charlie McKay (half-back) are those Dragons in question, both ticking over 30 touches in midfield but being selected in positions they are familiar with. Check out the full team below, including three emergencies. Who else was stiff to miss?
