2022 SANFLW fixture released

SOUTH Australian footy fans can start to make plans for the New Year, after the first seven rounds of the official 2022 South Australian National Football League Women’s (SANFLW) fixture was released yesterday. Though the competition will run for 12 rounds, from Round 8-12, the women’s competition will run parrallel with the men’s, with the plan to sync clashes between the same sides at the same venue.

Round 1 kicks off on Friday, February 4 where reigning premiers Glenelg head to Coopers Stadium to take on Norwood in what should be a blockbuster opening clash. The entire first weekend of action looms as a close one, with a double-header at Hisense Stadium the first of many throughout the season. West Adelaide hosts North Adelaide from 12:45pm local time, before two of the lower ranked sides from 2021 in Woodville-West Torrens Eagles and Sturt clash at 2:55pm. In the other match on Saturday, Central District open’s its season against South Adelaide.

Impressively, the new SANFLW Development League – which allows players not making the League side to have a direct pathway side rather than just local football – has been able to be coincided either side of the League matches. The first round with both League and Development matches looks like the following:

ROUND 1:

Friday, February 4:

Norwood vs. Glenelg @ Coopers Stadium | 6:15pm Development | 8:00pm League

Saturday, February 5:

West Adelaide vs. North Adelaide @ Hisense Stadium | 11:00am Development | 12:45pm League
