WHEREAS in some other rounds there is normally one match that will be the Match of the Round – the stand out match that fans should get excited about. Not this weekend in the QAFLW.
Some of this weekend’s clashes in the QAFLW have the potential to unfortunately be very lopsided, but not all.
Either way, let us take a look at what is in store for fans this weekend.
Since coming into the top level this season, Southport have really shown they belong at this level. The Sharks have comfortably defeated both Yeronga South Brisbane and Coorparoo in the opening fortnight, and will be looking to put out a similar performance against the Roos.
Maroochydore on the other hand has had a mixed bag of an opening fortnight, so this weekend is a great test to see where the Roos are really at.
Yeronga South Brisbane is back at home this week, and they take on an Aspley who after a tough loss first up got back on the winners list last weekend with a good win. The Devils however have had a tough start to the season so will be certainly looking to finally get that magical first win on the board.
Bond University will be looking to bounce back from a frustrating draw last weekend in the Grand Final rematch, but have looked like they are going to be a top side once again in 2022. The Bull Sharks are up against Coorparoo, who after scraping out a tough one-point win in Round 1, got comfortably beaten by Southport last week, so they will be certainly looking to get some more consistency into their season.
The University of Queensland will also be looking to move on from that draw when they come up against Wilston Grange. Now this one will surely get things moving again for the reigning premiers, since the Gorillas have had a less then ideal start to the season, while the Red Lions had a good win before that draw.
