AFLW Season 7: Big Week For – Round 9

IN a weekly piece throughout the AFL Women’s season, we name the players and teams who will be looking to have a big week in the upcoming round.

From underperforming sides, to players looking to step up or continue their form, Big Week For highlights those who could be ones to watch over the weekend.

Gold Coast

It is do or die this weekend for Gold Coast, it is that plain and simple.

Up against Carlton, the Suns simply have to win in order to keep any faint hope of finals alive heading into the final round.

If the Bulldogs and North win it will not matter, but that is out of the Gold Coast’s hands.

Sydney & Fremantle

These two are paired together simply because they are each other’s opponents, and although their clash this weekend is a clash of last versus second last on the ladder, it is still a big week for both of them.

Both sides will see this clash as a potential win, and after being on the receiving end of frustrating results last week, will be even hungrier to get the points this week.

Even though they do not really have much to play for in terms of this season with only a fortnight left, confidence and momentum heading into 2023 are still driving factors this week for both sides.

Adelaide & Geelong

These two are also paired together simply because they are each other’s opponents, but in this clash it’s a battle for the last spot in the top four.

These two sides currently sit fourth and fifth respectively, with mere percentage separating the two.

They face each other tomorrow night in Adelaide, and with both sides likely to win their final round matches, a win tomorrow night will just about secure the victors a crucial spot in the top four ahead of finals.
