AFLW Season 7 Finals preview: Richmond vs North Melbourne (Semi Final 1)

  • Team
  • North Melbourne VFL
  • Richmond VFL

FORM

These two sides come into the clash after very different performances last weekend.

Richmond are backing up after an at times frustrating performance against Brisbane last week, while North Melbourne are coming off an almighty comeback against Geelong last weekend.

HISTORY

The historic ledger between these two sides is certainly more fun reading for North supporters then it is for Tigers fan.

These two sides have played four times, with North winning three of the clashes. The only clash they did not win was the last time these two sides met, which was the epic draw only a fortnight ago.

INJURY LIST

The lucky Tiges have a completely empty injury list now. Sarah Hosking has come back into the side after recovering from injury, while Beth Lynch has passed the tests after suffering an ankle scare.

North Melbourne are not so lucky though. They still have Perri King, Erika O’Shea and Cassidy Mailer on their injury list.

KEY PLAYERS

As in any good final, there is plenty of good match ups right across the ground.

Rebecca Miller against Tahlia Randall up one end. Courtney Wakefield and Katie Brennan versus Jasmine Ferguson and Emma Kearney down the other end.

A midfield battle of Ellie McKenzie, Monique Conti and Grace Egan versus Jenna Bruton, Jasmine Garner and Ash Riddell.

Even Gabrielle Seymour against Kim Rennie in the ruck should be quite the tussle.

PREDICTION

This could genuinely go either way. Both teams are in stellar form, and both have something to prove heading into the game.

However, North do have a good track record both against the Tigers and at Punt Road, so when it comes down to it this is what should see them get over the line.
