2023 VFLW key dates revealed

THERE are now more women’s footy dates to jot down in next year’s calendar, with the AFL announcing the key dates for the 2023 VFLW season.

The upcoming campaign will begin in March, on the weekend of the 25th and 26th.

This is later than the 2022 season started, and with the AFLW season start time shifted to August again in 2023.

Next year’s VFLW season will run for 14 rounds before finals, with one competition bye round scheduled for the weekend of the King’s Birthday, which begins on June 10.

There will be 12 teams in next year’s VFLW season. All teams for last season are returning in 2023, but Hawthorn has transferred its license back to Box Hill.

The 2023 VFLW clubs are; Box Hill Hawks, Carlton, Casey Demons, Collingwood, Darebin Falcons, Essendon, Geelong Cats, North Melbourne, Port Melbourne, Southern Saints, Western Bulldogs and Williamstown.

The finals series will also remain the same in 2023, with the top six finals system making a return in 2023.

The four weeks finals series will get underway on the weekend of July 8 and 9, with the 2023 VFLW Grand Final set to be played on July 30.
