2023 Talent League Girls Player Of The Week: Round 15

TASMANIA Devils forward Georgia Clark earned our Rookie Me Central Talent League Girls Player of the Week for Round 15. Her Devils got the better of Calder Cannons by just seven points on the Apple Isle, with Clark kicking her side’s final goal of the game in the third term.

Clark’s major – which came at the 12th minute of the third term – was incredibly her third of the day as she roared back into form booting 75 per cent of her team’s majors. Her first goal came just three minutes into the contest, and her second midway through the second quarter to just keep the Cannons at bay.

By the end of the match, Clark was a standout, amassing 21 disposals and three marks to go with her three majors. She also laid three tackles, had five hitouts and five inside 50s, causing all sorts of headaches for the visitors to earn our Player of the Week nomiantion.

Clark becomes the first Tasmanian to earn Player of the Week honours in 2023, and just the third non-Victorian player behind Olivia Morris and Ava Usher. After Sophie Butterworth became the first tall forward to be nominated this season last week, Clark made it back-to-back nominations with her efforts.

Clark has booted 15 goals in nine games, surpassing her effort of 13 in the same amount of matches last season. She has also upped her disposal rate to 16.8 per game, while averaging 4.2 marks, 4.6 tackles and 2.8 inside 50s.

The Coates Talent League Girls competition is on a break for a month until the Devils tackle the Dandenong Stingrays at Shepley Oval on Saturday, August 26, before having a bye in the last round of the season. Clark will feature in some action before then though, taking on Queensland and Western Australia in the AFLW Under 18 Championships.
