LATE last week the Western Bulldogs confirmed their AFLW coach for 2024, bringing together the full coaching picture for the 2024 AFLW season.
In case you missed it, here is a quick catch up on the new head coach appointments for 2024.
Western Bulldogs
The Western Bulldogs announced that Tamara Hyett will be their new senior coach, replacing Nathan Burke.
Hyett has a long history in the women’s game, coaching the Sandringham Dragons in the Coates Talent League before spending the last four seasons as an AFLW assistant at Melbourne.
Hawthorn
The Hawks also went down the AFLW assistant route to choose their next coach, choosing Daniel Webster.
Webster has spent the past two seasons as midfield coach at the Brisbane Lions, but previously coached at the Brisbane Lions Academy and Queensland State Academies.
Collingwood
Collingwood were another side to go recruit another club’s assistant coach, signing Sam Wright as their new boss.
Having played in the men’s AFL previously, Wright also spent two years as an assistant at the club’s AFLW side, but before that had an extensive background in player development across multiple sports.
West Coast
West Coast was the only club to not pick a former AFLW assistant coach as their new coach, but their new coach has just as much pedigree.
Former Melbourne skipper Daisy Pearce had one of the most illustrious careers of any women’s footballers, and has spent the last year honing her craft as an assistant in the Geelong AFLM program.
