  • Team
  • Western Jets
  • Northern Knights

Western Jets 5.2 (32) lost to Northern Knights 8.6 (54)

Northern Knights were just a step ahead of the Western Jets in the two sides clash on the weekend, coming away 22-point winners under lights on Friday night. Ahead from the third minute of the match, the Knights never relinquished control and despite Western fighting the game out, could not bridge the gap.

STANDOUT: Zoe Hargreaves (Northern Knights)

The Northern Knights top-ager had another strong game as she amassed 22 disposals, six marks, five tackles, two inside 50s and kicking a goal, working hard through midfield and attacking well. She showed good strength and power around the stoppages and was able to get forward and hit the scoreboard too.

OTHERS:

Alongside Hargreaves, Olivia Jesser (15 disposals, five tackles and three goals) was the main threat up forward, while Kiara Keenan (21 disposals, five tackles and five rebound 50s) got the job done up the other end of the field. Olivia Gorman (23 disposals), Scarlett Johnson (20 disposals, five marks) and debutant Ivy Ryan (17 disposals, 14 hitouts and a goal) were all along the best. The duo of Olivia Castello (34 disposals, three marks, seven tackles and seven inside 50s) and Sierra Grieves (31 disposals, seven tackles, four inside 50s and four rebound 50s) were the key ball-winners for the Jets.

RMC MEDAL VOTES:

5 – Zoe Hargreaves (Northern Knights)
4 – Olivia Jesser (Northern Knights)
3 – Sierra Grieves (Western Jets)
2 – Kiara Keenan (Northern Knights)
1 – Olivia Castello (Western Jets)

  • Team
  • Sandringham Dragons
  • Oakleigh Chargers

Sandringham Dragons 2.1 (13) lost to Oakleigh Chargers 15.17 (107)

After keeping the match relatively close in the first half helped by Oakleigh’s inaccuracy, Sandringham fell away in the second half to go down by 94 points. In the same margin as Vic Metro’s win over Allies a week earlier, the Chargers piled on 10.5 to 0.0 after the main break to fall just short of an incredible triple-digit win.

STANDOUT: Chloe Bown (Oakleigh Chargers)

The bottom-age talent had a day out, booting 2.2 from 35 touches as she clocked up 11 more disposals than anyone else on the ground. She also took eight marks, had five tackles and 11 inside 50s in a clear best on ground performance. Bown was able to rotate between attack and midfield.

OTHERS:

Lucy Murphy (13 disposals, three goals), Bailee Martin (20 touches, two goals), Jacinta Baxter (18 disposals, two goals) and Skye Emery (16 disposals, two goals) all had big days out in front of the big sticks. Sarah Poustie (22 disposals, nine tackles and nine inside 50s), Zoe Curry (19 disposals, five tackles, six inside 50s and a goal) and Chloe Thorn (19 disposals, eight tackles, six inside 50s and a goal) were fantastic around the ground and finding plenty of the ball, while applying stacks of defensive pressure. Tiger Doultree (24 disposals, nine marks and 10 rebound 50s) was enormous for the Dragons in defence, and the only Sandringham player to have more than 15 touches compared to 10 Chargers.

RMC MEDAL VOTES:

5 – Chloe Bown (Oakleigh Chargers)
4 – Sarah Poustie (Oakleigh Chargers)
3 – Tiger Doultree (Sandringham Dragons)
2 – Zoe Curry (Oakleigh Chargers)
1 – Chloe Thorn (Oakleigh Chargers)
