Favourites show class, semis set in stone
ROUND 3 of the Transatlantic Cup women’s competition saw few surprises in terms of the results, but sets up an intriguing semi final stage.
Canada neutralises France
Canada has finished off its pool stage with a comfortable 57-point win over France.
Keeping France scoreless all game, Canada got off to a quick start, which helped them on to the big win despite slowing down on the scoring front as the match progressed.
Amanda Irwin and Nicole Robertson were the pick of the Canadian goal kickers with two each, while Filssan Houssein, Leo Gaillard and Erin Loughnane all kicked one each.
Banshees haunt Colombia with massive win
Ireland sent out a statement after its Round 2 loss, thrashing Colombia by 140 points.
The Jaguares were also kept scoreless as the Banshees had it all their own way, breaking their own intercontinental scoring record in the process.
Shannon Stevenson starred up from for the Banshees kicking seven majors, while Shauna Kendrick kicked four and Abby Noonan, Anne-Marie Troy and Amanda Brosnan kicked two each.
USA defeat Brits despite slow ending
USA also picked up their second win of the competition after defeating Great Britain by 21 points.
The Freedom kept the Swans scoreless for three quarters, but stopped scoring as the Brits staged a bit of a comeback. Unfortunately for the Swans it was a case of too little too late as the Freedom held on for the win.
Connor Lewis, Jess Blecher, Kaiya Sygulla, Nicole Feery and Amanda Boe all got on the scoreboard for the Freedom, while Lucy Newell and Eleasha Hyner were the two goal kickers for the Swans.
