Extended AFL State Draft Combine list released
THE AFL has announced a list of 62 players to attend this year’s State Draft Combine, set to be held across Victoria, South and Western Australia in October. It comes after 25 players were selected for the shortlist last week alongside a bumper collection of National Combine invites.

AFL clubs were consulted to add to the list, with potentially more players to earn selection over the next two months. The Melbourne state combine will take place on October 6, featuring prospects from Victoria, NSW/ACT, Northern Territory, Queensland, and Tasmania.
On the following Saturday (October 12), selected players from South Australia will convene on Nazareth College and the SA Athletics Stadium, while Western Australia’s invitees will test at the Gold Netball Centre and WA Athletics Stadium on Sunday October 13.
Rookie Me will again host each event, as well as the National Draft Combine on Sunday October 6 at Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC). Players will participate in the vertical and running vertical jumps, 20-metre sprint, agility test, and the 2km time trial.

Under 18 National Championships winners Vic Metro boast a high of 18 invitees, with the 12 Vic Country additions making for 30 total Victorians on the list, on top of three mature-agers from the VFL. South Australia is the next best represented region with 14 players.
A variety of club-tied talent will test, including Port Adelaide father-son candidates Rome Burgoyne and Louie Montgomery. Benny Barrett is also eligible as part of Port’s Next Generation Academy. St Kilda has Elwood Peckett tied via the same rules, along with NGA product Lennox Hofmann.
Melbourne is another club with multiple club-tied invitees. Dandenong Stingrays over-ager Riak Andrew, the brother of Gold Coast’s Mac, is on the list along with fellow NGA member Ricky Mentha. The latter is an Alice Springs native who has been turning out for Gippsland Power in Victoria.
