2024 Coates Talent League Preliminary Finals locked in
JUST four teams remain in each of the Coates Talent League Boys and Girls finals series, with the preliminary finals to take place across two venues over the coming weekend. After the boys’ elimination finals were held at ETU Stadium and the girls’ knockout first week finals took place at Shepley Oval, two different venues were selected for the upcoming penultimate round.
The girls will be first up on Saturday, with Highgate Recreation Reserve named as the preliminary finals venue. The clash between Oakleigh Chargers and Dandenong Stingrays kicks off proceedings from 11:30am, which will then be followed by Geelong Falcons and Eastern Ranges from 1:40pm. The Chargers and Stingrays programs are involved in both the boys and girls finals, with the different days allowing coaching staff, players, family and friends to attend each of the do-or-die matches.
Speaking of the double-header, the Stingrays will be up first, taking on back-to-back premiers Sandringham Dragons, who are vying for a rare three-peat, and just the second time since the competition began more than 30 years ago. That match kicks off at Moorabbin from 11am, with the second contest of the double-header between GWV Rebels and Oakleigh Chargers taking place from 1:30pm.
